The Championship comprised 12 events - 6 races and 6 rallies - held throughout 1979.  All the cars were identical 1300cc Ford Fiestas, prepared in a Faberge Kiku livery of yellow and brown.  The winner of the Championship, and one other driver who showed the most promise, were to be be offered a sponsored drive in 1980.
